The Successful Business Mindset

Successful business owners understand their work personality and preferred style of working. They know how to create an environment that fosters creativity, motivation, and self-care. They also know when they can focus and for how long, as well as their most effective working methods, such as multi-tasking, visual aids, or list-making. They are familiar with the tech gadgets that work best for them and establish routines that suit their needs, promoting greater focus, clarity, and productivity.


To kick off our first week, let's explore the morning routines of highly successful people who have mastered the art of establishing morning habits. By examining the daily routines of successful individuals, we can learn how to start our day with maximum productivity. Adopting a daily ritual of healthy habits can elevate us to the ranks of CEOs, visionaries, and other high-powered individuals who swear by their morning routine ideas.


Before I list some suggested routines, it's essential to acknowledge that everyone's body and home life is different. We must understand how our energy fluctuations affect our productivity and experiment with creating our own morning routines. Some of the suggested morning routine ideas may not be suitable for your lifestyle, and that's okay. You'll likely find a few that mesh well with your routine. Even those who are not morning people, like myself, can become morning people with the right routine. Below are some of the routines I've collected, some of which you may already be familiar with, but all are worth trying.


  1. Wake Up Early, this one is going to be more challenging for those sistas like me, a complete nite owl who does not want any part of the early morning shenanigans...lol. Seriously, not only does getting up early while everyone else is sleeping allow you quite time before the madness begins, The advantages of waking up earlier are backed by science, Christopher Randler a biologist, stated in an article about sleep quality published Entrepreneur.com states that people who wake up earlier are proven to be more proactive and deal with stress better. Waking up early a few hours before you start your work day will allow you time to do things to prepare you mentally and physically for a productive day. Let's go to through what successful people do once they're up this early..

  2. Nourish Your Body, your brain cannot achieve peak performance if your body is not well cared for. Eating a healthy breakfast that will energize you and provide nutritional value is very important.

  3. Exercise, is essential to keep us physically fit. Because you need to be physically healthy and strong to be mentally healthy and strong, they both are connected. In addition to weight loss the benefits of exercising can act as an energy booster, help you think clearly, reduce stress, increase your energy levels, help you sleep better at night, and boost your sex life.

  4. Affirmations, Life alone is filled with ups and downs, and life as an entrepreneur and/or businesswoman has its own set of challenges. Our actions tend to feed off of what we think most often. Without realizing we can fill our minds with constant negativity that we do not realize. Each morning, take time to practice daily affirmations and focus on your blessings. This will elevate positivity and faith.

  5. Meditate, Meditation is an excellent way to slow down your thoughts and establish clarity. This is why meditation is common among successful business owners. Especially having to deal with hectic days, back-to-back meetings, decisions to make, etc. A morning meditation routine clears your mind and reduces stress, putting your mind and your brain in a productive and focused state for the rest of the day. I personally like to do two different forms of mediation. One is a guided meditation and the other one is a listening meditation. With guided meditation, I use this time to meditate on the spiritual guidance from devotional and biblical scriptures. Second, is the listening meditation where you sit still and listen to your inner thoughts, guidance, and responses to your prayers...

  6. Strategies and Set Goals, We often have trouble with foresight and longevity, If you don't know where you're going, how will you get there? Setting morning routines will enable you to start your day by establishing a clear sense of direction. Set aside time to visualize

  7. Read up on your industry news, by taking a few minutes each morning to catch up on news from a credible source to build your industry insight. This is also another good motivator. Things to look for are: what is new, what is the status of the industry, what are the competitors up to, any opportunities, new trends, consumer reports, etc.

  8. Eliminate small decisions, just like we use to do when we were in school and you had to set out your outfit for school and get your lunch ready. The same concept applies now that we're adults trying to run businesses. Prep the night before and make your priority to-do list. I'm sure some of you may already do this, but in case you're not, this would be a good practice to try as it would provide fewer decisions and time to get ready the next day.


Now that we've suggested some morning routines, take some time to map out your own routine. You can follow the complete list or adjust it to fit your personality and home life. However, it's best to stay close to the list since successful people follow these concepts to help them focus and gain knowledge to become successful.
