Meet the Founder
Hello, I’m Tina, Over the past 20 years, I have worked in the corporate world, specifically in Business Administration, Economic Consulting, Direct Mail and Finance Analysis Industries. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with concentration in Marketing.
I was always interested in the corporate world at a young age. And later I wanted to own my own business, I just did not know what kind of service I wanted to provide. Fast forward as I became older, I saw more and more black owned business being developed. But one thing I noticed especially in my own community that the black owned businesses would not stay in business for long except for a few mom & pop stores and a few Jamaican restaurants. And then one day it hit me I want to be in the business consultant industry to help prevent black-owned small business failure!

Why I created My Sista's Keeper
So many African Americans are starting business left and right especially African Americans women. The numbers are phenomenal BUT they are still not reaching financial levels as a whole like other nationalities. We have less employees, less likely to be in business past 10 years, less percentage of the state’s wealth, less percentage of making an economic impact on the growth of the country from the business perspective. Too often so many of us start off as self-employed (which is to be expected) stay self-employed living customer to customer and do not grow or expand to becoming a business owner. Don’t get me wrong there is NOTHING wrong with being self-employed. However, so many of our businesses could experience higher levels of financially stabilities and make a substantial impact in their communities, families and economic contributions if we were to provide employment opportunities to people within our communities. Our mission is to help change the narrative!
My Vision
Throughout the years I’ve read several reports (e.g., the census, small business association, etc.) about the state of the black owned businesses and although the most recent report of just last year notes improvement in the black owned businesses they all basically state that black businesses are faced with bigger challenges than the average business owners.
Reports from companies like SCORE and American Express discusses earned average revenue of Black Owned Businesses owned by women earned an average of $24,000 per firm vs. $142,900 among all women-owned businesses. This gap, they say is “the greatest of any minority group”.
The mission for My Sista’s Keeper membership is to change the narrative, change the path, change the numbers, and change the percentage. I want to help increase the percentage of longevity for black business owners and close the financial gap of wealth with the other nationality and/or ethnic group
